This page offers a range of items we have sold at Auction in the past. Please note that condition is critical in items of prices raised at Auction. Quality counts! Also, please be aware that use of a ‘retail price’ estimate or comparison does not indicate what an item will necessarily fetch at auction. Mark-ups for retail sale can vary enormously and, for example, jewellery sold at auction will often sell at less than half the price asked for in a retail store.
Fashions change – both ways – and what an item might have cost new, or would have sold for a few years ago, maybe very different to what it will raise at auction now. Remember that the purchaser will be paying a buyers’ commission – sometimes as high as 20% or 25% +VAT – on top of the hammer price.
You are welcome to put a reserve price on your donations, but please make arrangements in advance with the saleroom for the disposal of items that do not realise the reserve price.
Please bear in mind the cost of getting the items to the Saleroom when deciding whether to sell through this arrangement. Also, it is worth noting that so-called ‘brown furniture’, unless of special quality, can be difficult to dispose of.
Where items are refused by a saleroom (or fail to sell), we encourage donors to consider a local Christian based charity shop or Hospice as a possible outlet for those items.

Pewter charger by Thomas Chamberlain, circa 1755, 42 cm dia. with arms on rim showing bird with long hooked beak standing on one leg with the other leg raised and holding a fleur de lys. The crest is similar to one produced on a pewter service for Baron Edgcumbe of Mount Edgcumbe, Eng.
